Laura Kinnunen

Laura discovered yoga in her late teens after completing her contemporary dance training, and was immediately drawn to the strong yet fluid precision of Ashtanga Yoga. After many years of practice, her move to London in 2008 led her to study with Norman Blair, who first introduced her to Yin Yoga — a turning point that would later shape her teaching path.

Encouraged by her teacher, Laura completed a 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa & Yin Yoga teacher training with Norman Blair and Melanie Cooper, qualifying in 2015. She has been teaching ever since, with her personal practice gradually evolving from dynamic styles towards softer, more nourishing practices including Yin Yoga and daily meditation.

Laura’s teaching is calm, supportive and deeply attentive. She creates space for students to slow down, soften, and reconnect — encouraging curiosity over performance and listening to the body rather than chasing expectations of what yoga “should” look like. Her classes invite exploration of breath, body and mind, meeting each student exactly where they are.

Committed to ongoing learning, Laura has undertaken extensive further training in Yin Yoga, mindfulness, meridians, restorative practices, chair yoga and Yoga Nidra, and more recently has immersed herself in mat Pilates with Polestar Pilates UK. Alongside her yoga teaching, Laura is the founder of Brockley Nordic Walking and has spent over a decade helping people of all ages and abilities rediscover movement through walking, nature and community.

When she’s not teaching, Laura can usually be found practicing Yin or Pilates, Nordic walking across South East London, tending her allotment, open water swimming, or planning her next walking adventure — often back to her native Finland.
