Daria Brown
Daria (AKA Yogi Dare) is a yoga teacher and sound practitioner who believes balance sits at the heart of her teaching, with sound shaping the practice. Her classes explore the interplay of movement and stillness, effort and rest, sound and silence, from a beat guiding your flow, to a soundscape accompanying a juicy Yin pose, or a chime bringing a sound bath to a close.
Her own path to yoga has been anything but straight. A 30-day yoga challenge in 2012 brought surprising results: some physical, including her first crow, but more intriguingly, a stilling of the mind. What followed was a squiggly, circuitous journey, with plenty of distraction and attempts to find the next thing promising a “better” shape.
After moving across the pond from Canada, short meditations gradually became retreats, and the memory of that original challenge resurfaced with a simple lesson: make space, then listen.
Sound, movement and stillness are how Daria finds that space, and she loves sharing them with others.
Daria’s training includes 4-BEAT Vinyasa with Good Life Yoga School, Sound Therapy with Maria Lodetoft, and Yin with Emily Mergaert.
