As with a lot of practitioners I stumbled onto yoga with little idea what I was actually getting myself into to or how deeply I would fall in love with the practice. After years of aesthetic driven training as a dancer it was a relief and a wonder to be introduced to a practice which was not about ‘getting it right’ for the eventual performance. Instead, almost the antithesis of this, yoga offered non-judgment and the joy in movement through connecting to the present. Joy in movement and breath, pure and simple, a journey, which takes time but is endlessly rewarding.
‘There are no short cuts. Being true to yourself and what really counts is the only route that leads anywhere.’
Dr Sarah Fane
I bring this philosophy into the classes I teach, offering a fiery yet flowing practise, with a strong focus on alignment and developing strength within the body whilst allowing space for each individual student to have fun and take the journey they need. My classes are a sweaty and playful exploration into mind and body, with the aim of finding our brightest and most healthy self. I will take a leaf out of B.K. S Iyengar’s philosophy and quote him by saying:
“Healthy plants and trees yield abundant flowers and fruits. Similarly, from a healthy person, smiles and happiness shine forth like the rays of the sun.”
